Transfer Printing

We work in transfer printing which is a fancy version of the iron-ons. We have two types of iron-ons available: clear and opaque white.

Clear: When we put the image on a clear iron-on, the color of the t-shirt shows through. This can be a problem for printing colors because the color of the shirt will distort the color of the image. We use a standard inkjet printer; thus on clear iron-ons, we have no way to print white. The nice thing about clear is that you can hide the shape of the iron-on because it is clear and isn’t real noticeable. Full color can be printed on a clear iron-on when used with a white shirt.

White: Using a white iron-on allows us to print in full color without worrying about the color of the shirt. The opaque nature blocks out the color of the shirt and allows brilliant color to show. The problem with white iron-ons is that the shape of the iron-on is very apparent. Ideally, you want the image to fill the entire iron-on or use a border to define the edge of the iron-on.
